04 | Research & Studies

Research is a fundamental part of how Parto Arch thinks about architecture. It allows each project to be grounded not only in design intention, but also in context, history, material culture, environmental responsibility, and the wider conditions that shape the built environment.

Our research work supports both design projects and independent architectural studies. We examine buildings, sites, urban conditions, historical references, construction traditions, spatial patterns, and cultural narratives in order to develop a deeper understanding of place.

In historical and contextual studies, we explore how architecture carries memory, identity, and cultural meaning. This may include research into existing buildings, heritage contexts, archival material, architectural precedents, traditional forms, and the relationship between past and present.

In sustainable and adaptive design studies, we investigate ways to reduce environmental impact, extend the life of buildings, and improve the performance of existing spaces. This includes understanding how buildings can be reused, adapted, repaired, and reimagined rather than simply replaced.

Research can also form part of the early design process. Through mapping, diagrams, site analysis, precedent studies, and written reports, we help clients and collaborators make more informed decisions before a project moves into detailed design.

Parto Arch approaches research as a bridge between knowledge and design. The aim is not simply to gather information, but to transform research into clear architectural thinking that can inform meaningful, practical, and lasting design outcomes.
